The Creation Model Vs the Evolution Model

Brief Summary

Creation

The creation model is the view in which the Bible portrays as the universe coming into existence with subsequent development mainly on earth thereon after, all directed by the hand of God.

1) We start off roughly at 4000BC (about 6000 years ago) where God creates the HEAVEN (some Bible version say ‘heavens’, however this is not what the original KJV says) and the earth on THE first day (Genesis 1). Then we have a six literal day creation where God creates everything in and outside of the Earth, including the Angels, Lucifer, Adam and Eve. At the end of it all He says it is “very good” (Genesis 1:31).

2) The fall of man then takes place, most likely quite a few years after the creation week where Adam and Eve sin against God and so receive the knowledge of good and evil and death as punishment (Genesis 3).

3) After that we move towards Noah’s (global) flood roughly at about 2400BC. Noah builds the Ark over a period of about 100-120 years and then Noah and his family (wife, three sons and their wives) all enter the ark with the representative KINDS of animals, (one male and one females and seven of some). This grand event is the reason for most of the geologic features we see today in and around the world (Genesis 6).

4) The Tower of Babel follows on from the ark some time later. God steps down into the first heaven in order to scatter the uniform language of man on the earth due to their evil hearts and attempts to build a tower that extends into the third heavens (Genesis 11). The irony is that scripture records in Genesis how God has to go down to meet the people as their structure hasn’t reached anywhere near the heights of Him, “Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech” (Genesis 11:7).

5) Around 1440BC, the Jews receive the laws of Moses, the 10 commandments (Exodus 20). Unfortunately the Jews mistakenly think that they can keep the law perfectly. Within a short amount of time, they prove to God that it is impossible for them to keeps all of Gods commandments. They show this not just, once but repeatedly. At this point something needs to be done.

6) This is when God himself steps down in human form; in the person of Jesus Christ, the only perfect being to ever walk the earth (Isaiah 9:6). He takes on death by dying in a horrible traditional roman manner on the cross, at which point He overcomes death itself, resurrecting three days later to reveal Himself as the One and Only true Son of God and conjointly God himself!

7) Lastly, according to scripture, implication into the future include: The signs of the end times (Matthew 24: 4-14), the sun and moon going dark (Matthew 24:29) a great battle taking place (Revelation 16:16), a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3:13), and a new body and life (2 Corinthians 5). Things will be restored back to the way they were before the fall (Isaiah 11:6 – 9), and we will live with God in love, peace and harmony forever and ever amen!

Evolution

The evolution model paints the world in a completely different view. The universe comes into existence with all the plants and subsequent life following thereon after, however there is no driving force for any of this except through the use of the term evolution.

1) Cosmic beginnings/evolution: The big bang is the proposed answer to the question of the beginning of the universe. According to the theory, around 13.8 billion years ago all the matter in the universe is condensed into a very dense spot, probably smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. This matter is spinning around faster and faster, and eventually expands out into what we now call space. (Before this event there was no space, time or matter).

2) Chemical beginnings/evolution: From that expansion of space, within a short time, hydrogen forms the first atom, and after some time the atoms clamp together slowly creating other elements and eventually stars and galaxies start to form

3) The foundations of the earth come into to existence about 4.5 Billion years ago as an accretion and differentiation of the core and mantle, impacts from space plus the collision of the early moon into earth. Following on from this, oceans and a primitive atmosphere are generated, however there is a reducing atmosphere (no oxygen in the atmosphere).

4) Organic evolution/abiogenesis: Swirling around in these great oceans are the ingredients for life. The first marine micro-organisms appear in the water. They are a photosynthesising organism, so over time they are able to add oxygen into the atmosphere whilst the extreme surface temperatures slowly reduce eventually creating tolerable conditions in order to survive and reproduce (Asexually at first).

5) Macro-evolution: Some scientists call macro evolution micro evolution on a larger scale. This is the idea that from this first self-replicating marine micro-organism, comes all the diversity of life we see today. Darwin’s tree of life gives us a visual aid as to how this could have come to be. Two key factors are needed for this: mutations and natural selection. Other factors aid in this grand scheme of life development as well, such as speciation, and extinction.

6) Micro-evolution: This is something we see in every day life. You could translate this word to mean variations in type of animals. A good example of this is the old and famous story of Charles Darwin’s visit to the Galapagos islands, where he encountered 14 finches (a type of bird) that all had varying beak shapes, each slightly evolved differently in an attempt to better adapt to their environment and food supply. The changes in beak shape you could attribute to microevolution.

7) The implications of this theory into the future include: Heat death as the ultimate outcome. This is where the universe reaches a state of no more thermodynamic free energy (the amount of work that a thermodynamic system can perform) and so energy cannot be actively used anymore. Life requires energy to sustain it and so without this, life fades away and nothing in the universe survives.
